Terrorists at Abu Ghraib: “Americans…Please Come Back!”

It’s only been a week since the US handed over Abu Ghraib to the Iraqis and it’s being reported that torture is rampant. No, I mean real torture, not the “we allowed dogs to bark at you” or “laughed at you while naked” torture. The kind of torture that makes your skin crawl just thinking about it.

Some of the small number of prisoners who remained in the jail after the Americans left said they had pleaded to go with their departing captors, rather than be left in the hands of Iraqi guards.
“The Americans were better than the Iraqis. They treated us better,” said Khalid Alaani, who was held on suspicion of involvement in Sunni terrorism.

So let me get this straight. These prisoners were being “tortured” by American troops like Lynndie England, yet they were pleading with these same bloodthirsty torturers to let them GO WITH THEM??? Now maybe I just don’t understand properly, but if someone was really torturing me and other, new torturers were coming to take control I don’t really think I’d give a damn whether I went with the former or stayed with the latter.

Access to the part of the prison containing terrorism suspects was denied, but from that block came the sound of screaming. The screaming continued for a long time.

I have no doubt that it did. You see, the bleeding heart liberals in this country don’t realize that the Iraqis play by the same rules that the terrorists attempting to take over their country do. There is no mercy, there is no Geneva Conventions, there are no ACLU lawyers to whine to about your Koran being peed on.

My prediction is that you won’t hear hide nor hair about “Abu Ghraib” any more now that it’s the Iraqis who are doing wrong. Which to any sane individual points to the fact that the whole Abu Ghraib flap never had anything to do with human rights in the first place. It was just a case of pompous self-hate that just so happened to have a nice political angle for them.

No, all you’ll hear from the Leftist surrender monkeys is how ABC and Disney are the devil.

  1. From someone, such as your self, who pretends to be Catholic, (but who is apparently an American first and a Catholic second), I’m rather surprised by your reaction to the intrinsically immoral behavior to the prisoners at Abu Ghraib.

The sexual nature of the methods used for extracting information violated the decalogue. Torture may not be immoral per se, but certain methods of torture are. Pagan Americans prefer to follow their pagan ways, which are not God’s ways.

Or as Kevin puts it well over on Caelum et Terra:

“Abu Ghraib was not an aberration, it was an abomination caused by a several factors. Tom Ricks book “Fiasco” reveals how inexperienced Reservists with little or no prison policing background were put in charge of an overcrowded system that served primarily as a dumping ground to absorb the thousands of detainees resulting from random round-ups. He quotes military sources claimimg less than 10% of those held had any “intelligence value” to the CIA.
The cultural chasm that existed between guards and inmates, day to day stress of fighting a “shadowy” enemy, the “ends justify the means” mentality of some higher ups, and the fact that we had men and women in positions of power who were formed by our porno culture made Abu Graib an almost inevitable tragedy. And a stain on our conscience that will last a long time.

  2. Read into my statements what you wish. I am highlighting the lack of outrage at the utterly grotesque methods employed by our enemies, which typically end in murder prefixed by unthinkable atrocities of torture.

Perhaps I should jump on the bandwagon and do nothing all day but write scathing posts about our tactics at Abu Ghraib while completely ignoring those of our enemies?? I reject that notion and instead chose to highlight the extreme lack of outrage (and reporting of) the unquestionable sins of murder and physical torture that our troops (and civilians) have experienced at the hands of our enemies.

Perhaps I should question the orthodoxy of your faith since you didn’t explicitly condemn the actions of the terrorists?? Is that logical?
