Uberti 1873 Cattleman

This is actually the first handgun I ever purchased on my own. Of course I had used many handguns prior to this that were owned by my father and friends, but this was my first.

I thought long and hard about what my first handgun would be when I bought it, and that’s probably the reason it took me so long to decide. But it came down to history. I love the Old West plain and simple. It was a unique time in history in general, but especially in American history. Just the thought of having the amazingly wild and mysterious expanse of the West to explore and settle is both excruciatingly exciting to me and realistically scary at the same time. I am not naive enough to believe it was an easy life, but I think it was a time that would have been interesting to live in.

Anyway, I shot the Rugers and the Colts and some other replica manufacturers, however I actually enjoyed the fit and finish of the Uberti the best. Obviously these old .45 LC guns aren’t all that accurate, but that’s not why people buy them. They buy them because they want to own a piece of history and because….well……you just can’t beat the reliability of an old single action revolver.

I’ve enjoyed this gun tremendously and I am sure I will for years to come.
